Might be too little, too late for Komen, bioethicist says
Fri Feb 3, 2012
When I saw the title of this article, "Might be too little too late for Komen", I bet my husband $20 that a man had written the article. Turned out I was right and would be $20 richer if he had taken the bet. The political decision that they now regret is not what's important about Komen.
Baby boomers may be bad news for stock market
Tue Aug 23, 2011
I am 65 and my husband is 68. We have money in cash, bonds, stock; we have a paid-for house. To date, we have done some profit-taking from the stock, but not much. We still buy stock, if it's at a good price. We have taken almost nothing from the deferred …
What are you doing with your investments?
Thu Aug 18, 2011
I don't understand why people sell their stocks low; now is not the time to sell unless one needs the cash to live on. I would buy stocks if I had the $ to buy them.
Some docs still 'prescribe' tanning, despite risks
Thu Jun 9, 2011
I don't agree with the article. Every example they cite did not tan "in moderation", but rather, excessively. We humans did not evolve living under a rock or living in a cave all the time. I can see how say, in a place like Alaska, where there is no sun for months at a time, …
2010 census: Men narrowing gender gap of old age
Thu May 26, 2011
BruceGee--I want to say, I like your comment. I don't think Ryan is right about wanting to privatize Medicare, but I think higher premiums, higher co-pay for Medicare; and higher taxes, and less spending, are the answer. This is something nobody wants to hear, but the consequences will …
Was Donnie Burns' paddle an honest mistake, or sneaky business?
Mon May 2, 2011
It didn't seem like a scandal to me. I've seen them raise the wrong paddle before, and confer among themselves before. Tonight didn't seem exceptional in that regard. I agree that the scores seemed a little strange: a 9 for Kirstie, a 10 for Hines.
How much have you borrowed to pay for college or grad school for you or your children?
Tue Apr 12, 2011
My daughter will graduate in May with no debt. She attends an excellent out-of-state state college, with an academic scholarship.
Did you agree with Len Goodman's criticisms?
Tue Apr 12, 2011
I think the judges' controversy is a bit staged and that they enjoy the trumped-up conflict. It makes for interesting television. I enjoy it. Aside from that, I loved classical week. The music was just beautiful.
Which shows do you think should have gone on longer?
Wed Mar 16, 2011
My all time nomination for pulled-too-soon would be Moonlight. I loved it. Many people did. Can't imagine why they pulled Moonlight, but kept Medium well past its use-by date.
Have you had enough of Charlie Sheen?
Mon Mar 7, 2011
The MSNBC page asks about the media, are they giving us too much Charlie Sheen? Are "they" enabling him? Are "they" exploiting the situation? Apparently the answer is "no", because there are three more articles about him in the MSNBC entertainment section. If it bleeds, it leads.
